My husband’s ancestor is Daniel Comans. He was a private in the 12th MS Calvary, Co. E and did survive the war. He’s buried at High Hill Cemetery in Sebastopol, MS.

I just heard that he was an Irish immigrant and former Catholic priest. After the war, he was married and had many children. Family history also says he was bushwhacked; his bones were later identified by the CSA belt buckle and sword he had carried.
