Hi Tom, My name is Jim Shepherd and I had an ancestor in the 12th Ms. Co. I. He was Lt. William Carter White a physican from West Point. He is buried in West Point at Greenwood Cem. and his tombstone is inscribed with his rank and unit no. I am looking for info on his brother Peyton H. White, who according to a family bible was killed at Shilo. I have not found any record of him in a Ms. unit. Believe he may have been in the 8th Ala. Calv. Do you have any info on the 8th.
